Frequently Asked Questions

Guyana does not require a visa for short tourist stays for most Caricom, UK, US, Canadian and EU nationals — entry is typically granted on arrival. A longer-term residency permit is processed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the timeline varies by nationality and permit type rather than following one published window. We recommend starting the application well before your planned move and confirming current processing times directly with the Ministry.

Guyana does not have a bilateral tax treaty with the Netherlands, the UK or the US covering individual relocators. Foreign residents are taxed under Guyana's own Income Tax Act based on residency status, separately from whatever you owe at home. We recommend speaking to a tax advisor familiar with both Guyana and your home country before relocating.

Some banks offer preliminary account opening for verified applicants. Contact us for a referral to our banking partners.

A valid international health insurance policy covering Guyana is required for all residency applications.

Guyana does not currently offer a dedicated digital nomad visa. Most remote workers enter on a standard visitor permit for short stays; a longer stay requires the residency process described above.
